Preliminary exam pattern

  • Both papers (General Studies Paper-1 and General Studies Paper-2) are asked Objective Type (MCQ) questions. Two hours are available for a paper. The entire exam is of four hours.
  • UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination is General Studies Paper-2 qualifying paper. That is, it is necessary to score at least 33 percent in this paper to be successful. Question papers are in both Hindi and English languages.

There is also negative marking in this exam. On every wrong answer, you will get the marks which you have obtained by giving correct answer. Therefore, be careful while answering.
