The border dispute between India and Nepal seems to be increasing. Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said on May 19 that Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura areas belong to Nepal. He will bring them on the map of Nepal at any cost. He said that this is being talked to India from both political and diplomatic levels.

Why is this dispute happening

On 8 May, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the road connecting India and China.

  • This road connects Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand to Lipulekh pass.
  • Pilgrims going to Kailash Mansarovar Yatra go by this route.
  • Nepal claims that India has built a road in its area.
  • The Lipulekh Pass is part of it and India says that it has built a road on its part.
There is a conflict between India and Nepal about this. Nepal has also demonstrated against India.

What does the PM of Nepal say

KP Sharma Oli gave a statement in the Parliament of Nepal on this matter.

  • Oli said that the new political map of Nepal has been accepted in the cabinet.
  • In this, Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura, all three areas are in the border of Nepal.
  • He said that this area belongs to Nepal.
  • India has deployed the army there and made it a disputed area.
  • Nepalese people are not able to go there due to Indian Army being there.
  • India has stationed the army there since 1962.
  • Our old governments were hesitant to take up this matter. But we will keep taking these places back.
  • Now this issue will not be forgotten. If there is any anger, we will not mind.

China's pressure has been negated. KP Sharma Oli has said that now it is expected that India will follow the path of truth. His country wants a strong relationship with India. Nepal is in contact with India through diplomacy. He also retaliated by the statement of Indian Army Chief Manoj Narwane. He said that whatever Nepal is doing, it is doing it of its own accord.

What did the army chief say

  • He said that Nepal is raising the issue of border dispute at the behest of someone else and his reference was to China.
  • He also responded to the allegations that his chair was left due to China.

KP Sharma Oli said that some people say that the foreign ambassador saved his government from falling. Such people should remember that this government has been elected by the people of Nepal. In such a situation no one can get them out of power.
